Trash Day

Titan has an odd routine when it’s time to take out the trash. Does your dog do this? It’s pretty much a game at this point.

Dad’s Dachshund Izzy has to “inspect” (ie, thoroughly sniff) every kitchen garbage bag before it goes out to the bin. It started when she was a puppy and very curious about what people were doing, so Dad began letting her smell the full bags, and then let her ride in the car as he drove the bin up to the street. (We have a looong driveway.) And now, every time the kitchen garbage needs emptying, Izzy still wants to sniff the bag.

  Thank you! Indeed, Izzy’s adorable. (And she knows it.) She’s a mini with what’s called an isabella pattern; mostly white with a few brown and tan spots. Her sire was a wire-haired Dachshund, and her dam was long-haired, but somehow, Izzy’s a “weird-hair”. The white fur is long and soft, and the brown and tan parts are short and a little coarser. It’s fascinating.

    lol that’s cute! A friend of mine has a long hair Dachshund and it’s so soft! So sweet too.

      Yeah, the general rule is that long-hairs are the sweeties, the wire-hairs are li’l clowns, and the short-hairs are dynamite. XD There’s always exceptions, of course. (Titan’s actually a good -and gorgeous- example of that.)
